1월부터 MAGIC TREE HOUSE 와 13-Storey Treehouse 두 시리즈를 조금씩 읽어보는 중인데, 처음에는 13-storey 시리즈가 더 재미있나 싶더니 이게 더 재미있는 듯하다. 지나가면 또 기록 못하니까, 일단 메모해둔 것들을 옮겨 정리중. 이런거 정리하려고 B5 사이즈 노트도 샀는데 결국 키보드를 두드리고 있는.
사실은 기억하고 싶은 문장들, 표현들, 그런걸 좀 효율적으로 기록하고 복기하고 내뱉을 수 있어야 하는데.
계속 시스템 탓(?)만 하는 중. 뭔가 획기적인 방법을 찾고 있지만 결국 없고, 시간 투자/반복해서 보기/입으로 내뱉기 이것 밖에는 답이 없는 듯.
뭘 요행을 바라나~

Frog Creek
Whe loved pretend stuff.
He liked real things.
watch out! The monster's coming! Race you!
The sun was about to set. Jack groaned.
groaned - 신음소리를 내다
The trees were lit with a golden late-afternoon light.
light-lighted-lighted, light-lit-lit
"Just for a teeny minute." 10분 남았어!
She started up the ladder. She kept climbing.
poked her head out of the treehouse window.
poked - 밀다 쑥 내밀다, head out of - ~에서 나오다
He pushed his glasses into place. 안경을 제자리에 밀어넣다?
He gripped the sides of the rope ladder, and up he went.
gripped - 잡다

Jack crawled through a hole in the treehouse floor.
crawled - 기어나가다
She was peering out the tree house window.
peering out at - 내다보다, peer - 유심히보다(잘안보여서)
"Shush!" 셔쉬, 쉿!

gliding. a long, weried crest on the back of his head.
a plider plane! a skinny beak.
Jack nearly fell out the window trying to see it.
The wind picked up!

Then everything was still. 모든 것이 고요했다.
Sunlight slanted through the window.

looked back out of the window. 창밖을 돌아보았다.
The ground was covered with ferns and tall grass.
fern - 양치식물
There was a winding stream.
winding - [와인딩] 구불구불한 adj.
A sloping hill. 경사진 언덕
And volcanoes in the distance.
in the distance - 저 멀리 먼곳에,
stammered Jack. 말 더듬이 잭.
The creature coasted to a stop. And stood very still. 멈추기까지 계속되었다. 그리고 아주 가만히 서 있었다.
His giant wings were spread out on either side of him.
on either side/on each side - 양쪽에
"This flying reptile lived in the Cretaceous period" [크리테이셔스] 백악기
"It vanished 65 million years ago"
vanished - disappear suddenly and completely
She stepped boldly up to the ancient creature.
boldly - 대담하게, up to (sth) -
Chapter 4.
She stroked his neck. What in the world she was saying?
stroked - 쓰다듬다 what in the wourld 무슨일??
Take notes. 필기하세요. Snorted 코웃음치다. Jack stepped forward.
fuzz 보풀 bony crest 뼈로된 볏
Don't coun on it. 너무 믿지마. 기대하지마.
"Maybe he's a mutant." he said.
mutant - 돌연변이
Chapter 5.
Jack scrambled after her.
scrambled - 뒤쫓아가다 기어가다
They tumbled into the tree house.
tumbled into - 굴러떨어지다
"We are in a time long ago!" He flipped through the pages.
Eating flowers off a tree.
eat off - 먹어치우다
Jack slammed the book shut. 책을 쾅 닫았다
slam - 쾅 닫다,
He shoved the dinosaur book into his pack. He called up to Annie, He slung it over his shoulder and -
when he reached the bottom of the hill, he kneeled behind a fat bush.
Annie knelt beside him and started to speak. Jack peeked out at the Triceratops. Jack slipped his notebook.
Was she teasing? 놀렸나요? Annie nudged him.
In full view of the Triceratops!

Chapter 6.

He stuffed the gold medalion into his jeans pocket.
Then he heard Annie shriek.
Annie was crouching next to one of the nests. A standing over her was a gigantic duck-billed dinosaur! The huge dinosaur was towering above annie. Annie started crawling again. Jack inched farther down the hill. He crouched next to her.
soon the dinosaur grew quiet. Annie crouched down and started to chew.

Chapter 7.
He scooped it up. Anatosauruses were bellowing at him.
Chapter 8
Jack peered down at the valley. The anatosauruses might stampede.
Chapter 9.
The pteranodon coasted down to the ground. Then he eased down onto the Pteranodon's back. They teetered this way. The Pteranodon steadied himself, then rose into the sky. Jack looked down. The Tyranosaurus was chomping the air and staring up at him.
Then the Pteranodon soared out over the plain - over the Triceratops who was grazing in the high grass. He whooped.
His legs were wobbly. Jack bolted to the ladder. Suddenly something slammed against the oak tree. Shook? Shake?
He trabbed it and tore through it, looking for the photograph of the Frog Creek Woods.
The wind began to moan. Softly at first.
Chapter 10.
He peeked out the tree house window. The sun was about to set.
Annie shrugged. gold medallion. Annie's eyes got round.
"Ja-ack! An-nie!" Came the distant cry again.
Annie poked her head out the window.
He slasped the gold medallion.
He felt the engraving of the letter M. It made Jack's Fingers tingle.
